Aliya is a nomad! She was born in Barrington, IL; moved to Racine from Chicago 12 years ago; lived in Pakistan, Indiana, Michigan, Massachusetts, and England in the years in between. She believes everyone should experience Lake Michigan at sunrise because the beauty of the lake is one of the best things about living here.
Aliya became a Greater Racine County ambassador because she cares a lot about what happens to Racine in the coming years – this is the place where she lives, works, and raises her kids. Her husband grew up here, so her family can offer great perspective on what it means to call Racine “home,” either as a lifelong resident (him) or as someone who moved here from another city (Aliya).
Aliya advises anyone interested in Racine County to come with an open mind and a readiness to meet some amazing people! Racine County is a community that’s both local and global, with all of the joys of small-town living but with quick and easy big-city access. It truly is the best of both worlds.
