More Than a Home: Brittany and husband Built a Life and a business in Caledonia

Racine County, WI

Brittany’s journey shows how Racine County’s supportive network helps small businesses—and families—take root and thrive.

After graduating from Metropolitan State University in Minnesota, Brittany Paige-Schuster and her husband, Chad, began searching for the right place to raise their family—somewhere affordable, welcoming, and full of opportunity, but close to Milwaukee, where she grew up and still had family. The couple found the right combination in Caledonia, a quiet corner of Racine County.

"We found the perfect balance in Caledonia—peaceful and spacious like the country, but still close to the energy of the city. Even though I grew up in Milwaukee, I feel more connected to Racine. It’s where we’re planting our roots and truly making a home for our family."

Now a full-time certified life coach and entrepreneur, Brittany co-owns Debris Ducks with her husband Chad, her brother Mark, and sister-in-law Alisha. The family-run business focuses on tree care and landscaping, but provides demolition, power washing, junk removal, gutter cleanouts, board ups, and more services to homeowners and businesses throughout the region. Originally launched as Paige Kingdom, the company rebranded to Debris Ducks to better reflect its growing list of services.

What sets Debris Ducks apart isn’t just the work they do—it’s their commitment to people. Brittany draws on her life coaching experience to lead with empathy and purpose, including when it comes to hiring. The team partners with organizations like EQUUS to create employment opportunities for individuals transitioning from incarceration or the foster system, especially parents trying to rebuild stable lives.

In addition to building a business, Brittany has found a deep sense of community in Racine County.

"What I love most about starting a business in Racine is the support system. From BizStarts Racine to Legacy and WWBIC, everyone I’ve connected with is eager to help—or connect me with someone who can. It’s a network that truly wants to see you succeed, and that kind of encouragement makes you feel like you’re not alone—you’re building a family along the way."

Brittany especially appreciates Downtown Racine, where her family spends Friday nights by the lake enjoying live music and community events. “It’s small, but there’s always something going on. It’s family-friendly, walkable, and there’s room to explore. We don’t just go once—it’s part of our routine.”

For Brittany, Racine County is more than where she lives. It’s where her family has built a life—and a business—rooted in service, community, and second chances.
