Tailwinds Brewing Company officially opened its doors in downtown Union Grove, welcoming the community into its aviation-themed taproom for craft beer, food, and connection. During the grand opening celebration, guests shared what they love most about Racine County—from its small-town charm and lakefront lifestyle to its prime location between Milwaukee and Chicago—while owners Rick and Carolyn McNabb highlighted the airline-inspired story behind the brewery’s name.
Bringing Tailwinds to life was a true partnership. The project was supported by SBA 504 financing through Business Lending Partners (BLP) and Bank Five Nine, along with a Community Loan from Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC) and the Village of Union Grove, and a Community Development Investment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC)—a collaborative effort that helped make this new downtown gathering space a reality.
Located in the heart of Racine County, the Village of Union Grove is home to nearly 5,000 residents and more than 150 businesses. Known for its charming Main Street, locally owned shops, quality schools, and year-round community events—from public markets to the 4th of July parade—Union Grove offers the safety, friendliness, and opportunity of true small-town living with easy access to Milwaukee and Chicago.
